I don't want to talk politics anymore

I am almost as tired of hearing about politics as I am of seeing Peyton Manning on TV. I have heard more lies and half-truths from both sides about their own candidates and "the other guy" and I am done... www.procon.org seems to be a good sight for finding facts. The site has info on a lot of topics, though none of it is super in-depth. I just want to go back to the days when we could gripe about the president and not pretend that this guy or that one were going to save America while his opponent would destroy it. Mark my words; nothing will change. we are in a political stasis and will remain that way until something more dramatic than an African American in the oval office or a woman as VP comes along. Oh well...I said I wasn't going to talk about politics. damn.

ramblings

I don't think that I'm voting for our next president. I know that this is my second post and it may be a little early to get political, but if I don't start now it will be stale before I really get going. I will be voting for state elections (those that I know about) and I will be voting for or against various questions. I just can't see how I can win with the presidential election. I am pro-life and I will not apologize for it. I refuse to judge another's actions as I have never walked in their shoes, but my beliefs remain what they are, and they are integral to how I vote. I am also confused as to what Obama actually stands for. I have heard everything from "he's a socialist" to stories about him turning water into non-fat lattes. Who am I to believe? I am also concerned with the fact that he's a closet smoker...I mean if you're going to do it, be open about it.
On the other hand, I feel like McCain is so far removed from my life that he cannot understand my plight. He actually thinks that giving everyone five thousand dollars to pay for health insurance is a good idea...that would buy my family less than three months of health insurance. I have a son with Autism and he sees specialists all the time. No one knows what causes Autism or why and so there are literally thousands of treatments and theories out there that aren't paid for by insurance. My wife and I pay a lot out of pocket, (with help from our families) and that is a heavy burden to bear. I am uncomfortable voting for a man who's "money problems" consist of what denominations to roll in before bed.
Wow...I sat down to write about how pretty the trees were when I was outside today. I am nothing if not distractable. Goodnight faithful readers.

inaugural post

ok...no one is going to read this but I wanted to get back into writing and I thought that this would be a good way to practice putting one word in front of another. So to say a bit about myself...I am a soon-to-be 28 year-old, married to a wonderful woman with three amazing children. My kids are Liam (7), Helena (3), and Steve (18 mos.). Mia, my wife, wants to feed me topics and make me write about them so from time to time I'll be indulging her. I work at Trader Joe's grocery store, as well as working for the US Postal Service and let me tell you, working two jobs is not quite as fun as it sounds, but we get by. I'm not really sure what this blog is going to serve up as far as content (I don't really read other people's blogs or know anything about blogs). I also have to put out the disclaimer that I am a little out of practice as far as writing goes. It has been a while since I've written on a regular basis, though I hope that I can fix that here. Anyway, here it is...my blog (indistinct cheering in the background).
